Ahhhh, Tiffany.

Your hair dilemma is one of many women, and I'd be happy to help.

First off let me say this: there is a miracle solution to this problem that works on almost every hair type to keep bouncy, beautiful curls without the grease factor or added weight. Unfortunately the bastards at Graham Webb are in the process of discontinuing it. If you can find it online, your best possible solution is Graham Webb's "Making Waves" gel in the teal bottle. However, with it being discontinued soon, I shudder to think what prices will be like online....

As a backup, and close second, I would try either the Curls Rock Leave-In Moisturizer by Catwalk (can be used on wet or dry hair), or their sister product Curls Rock Curl Booster (a spray version also for dry or wet hair). Both of these retail between $10-$15, but are well worth it.

Keep in mind these other styling tricks to lose the frizz, and keep the curl...

1) NEVER use a brush... always a wide-tooth comb.

2) Frizz comes from a LACK of moisture. Using a leave in moisturizer, or hair mask, should tame it incredibly.

3) Serums can be good AND bad! If you choose to go the serum route, aim for one that is silicone-based, and use it SPARINGLY.

4) DO NOT use shampoo or conditioner MEANT FOR STRAIGHT HAIR if you hair is CURLY! The amplifying agents in the straight shampoos will CAUSE more frizz!

5) Squeeze your hair dry with your towel when getting out of the shower. Never rub.

6) Use a diffuser on your hair dryer, and a low heat setting.

7) Rinse shampoo AND conditioner out with cold water. For those of you just doing the final rinse in cold? You're not helping much.

8) Don't wash your hair everyday....this will dry out your locks and leave them screaming in a frizzy wonderland. Try to limit it to every other day, and IF NECESSARY, use a dry shampoo in between. (For help picking the right dry shampoo, let me know...)

9) Try to keep your product AWAY from the roots... this can cause the root area to become greasy looking while the bottom half frizzes out. That look is even worse than what you started with.

10) Stick with gels, creams, and serums for curly hair. ANY product where ANY version of alcohol is in the FIRST THREE ingredients? RUN!

Hope this helps!
J
